Engineering research service
MATLAB and Simulink Research Modelling
Structure and review MATLAB or Simulink research models with explicit assumptions, reproducible calculations and defensible interpretation.
Request guidanceStart from the research model, not the software interface
MATLAB and Simulink are flexible environments, but a technically running model is not automatically a valid research model. The first step is to identify what the model represents, which assumptions are embedded in it and what evidence would support its use.
Typical review areas
- Equations, parameter definitions and units.
- Initial conditions, solver choices and numerical tolerances.
- Signal flow, state definitions and subsystem boundaries in Simulink.
- Reproducibility of scripts, data inputs and figures.
- Whether the reported output answers the research question rather than merely showing a successful run.
For broader computational planning, see Scientific Python and optimisation or the engineering research guides.
